As you may have heard, Apple is hard at work creating ultra-thin "air-ified" MacBook Pros. The fact being known that prototypes are being tested, nothing is known about the specs or other hardware features. The new MacBook Pro is said to be based on all flash storage and no optical drive just like what was done to the MacBook Air. It is also believed that the MacBook Pro will be dramatically thinner. Many people are disappointed that the MacBook Air and Mac Mini had no optical drive, calling it a "deal-breaker" and such. If the optical drive is really necessary for you a $99 external Super-Drive is always something you can get. Apple is known to drop outdated technology from the products as they did to the floppy drives back in 1990 to the iMac. This time, the optical drive is being dropped to be replaced by the Intel Thunderbolt port which is faster in data transfer and editing video/camera footage live. With no optical drive, all the applications will have be downloaded either from the internet or the Mac App Store, giving Apple a bigger cut of all the profits. Not allowing apps to be installed any other way than their way, that's just becoming the Apple way.
