On August 15th , Apple sneakily launched an educational iMac on the apple store primarily be available to schools and educational institutions. The educational iMac sells for $999 opposed to the consumer iMac, priced at $1,199. This version of the iMac is slightly less powerful than the original one. The education only iMac will include a Intel Core i3 dual core processor, a 21.5 inch display, 2GB of RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, SuperDrive, and an AMD Radeon HD 6750 GPU (not THAT great for gaming). Mac OS X Lion will be included but it will not include the Thunderbolt port. Apple is really pushing to contribute towards education.
